Welcome to Mills Veterinary Services!

Located in the beautiful rural countryside of Armstrong, we’re proud to provide a wide variety of veterinary medical services for dogs, cats and horses for several surrounding areas in the Okanagan.

We provide a range of holistic and traditional treatment options, all individually tailored to your companion’s needs. All initial treatments include a consultation with treatment plan to ensure you are fully involved in the planning process.

At Mills Veterinary Services, we honor the special bond that people have with their animals. We offer a compassionate integrated approach to veterinary care, combining the best of holistic and conventional medicine to provide optimal well-being for your horses and small animals.

Meet Our Veterinary Care Team

Dr. Britt Mills, DVM

Dr. Mills has been practicing veterinary medicine in BC since 1989. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989 and spent 13 years running an equine practice in Northern BC.

She developed an interest in holistic medicine and completed a certification course in veterinary acupuncture with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in 1997. Since then she has completed many courses in spinal manipulation, cranio- sacral therapy, nutrition and herbal therapy. She is passionate about integrative and complementary medicine and improving the well-being of animals by using the best of allopathic and holistic medicine. She is currently taking an in-depth course in integrative oncology in order to bring more comprehensive cancer care to our practice.

Dr. Mills spent many years riding and training dressage horses and obtained level 2 coaching certification with Equine Canada. She has 3 wonderful children, and currently resides in Armstrong with her partner, Joe, 2 beautiful German shepherds and their newest addition, a Boston terrier/border collie puppy . Her hobbies are hiking with the dogs, cooking gourmet meals, and scuba diving.

Dr. Evany Forrest, DVM

Dr. Forrest has been a part of the Mill’s Vet team since 2022. She graduated from the University of Calgary Veterinary Faculty, and spent 2 years practicing mixed animal medicine in Dawson Creek, BC before moving back home to Armstrong.

Dr. Forrest grew up participating in the Armstrong Pony Club and competing in eventing, and has maintained a love for horses throughout her life. Professionally, she has developed a particular interest in combining integrative care with traditional veterinary medicine. Since graduating she has taken additional veterinary specific certifications in Acupuncture and Spinal Manipulation Therapy to help provide a holistic care approach for our equine, canine and feline patients. She also particularly enjoys small animal dental surgery, and is one of the two main surgeons offering routine soft tissue and dental surgical procedures through Mills Veterinary Services.

When not at the clinic Dr. Forrest enjoys camping, paddle boarding, skiing and travelling, usually with her blue heeler Jet by her side.

Dr. Krystin Alexander, DVM

Dr. Alexander graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest in 2020. She has gained valuable experience working in small animal clinics in Ireland and England, and is currently completing her final exam for equivalency in Canada.

With a passion for personalized pet care, Dr. Alexander is excited to connect with clients and their furry companions. Originally from North Vancouver, she has now settled in the Okanagan to be closer to family. A self proclaimed animal accumulator, she has a dog, cat, 12 ducks, and both fresh and saltwater fish.

Debbie Davis

Debbie Davis is a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technologist. She holds an animal health degree from Olds College.

With a special interest in anesthesia and pain control, Debbie is committed to providing the highest level of care and comfort to all our patients. Her passion for animals has been a lifelong journey, inspiring her to pursue a career where she can make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Outside of work, Debbie enjoys competing in Dressage with her horse, Gigi. She also shares her home with her husband and their beloved cat, Chooba; although the love of her life may have been her departed dog Keely.

Debbie's personal and professional lives are both deeply enriched by her love for animals, and she is proud to be a member of the Mills Vet team.

Veterinary Technician

Fran Hartnett

Fran has joined our team as a retired veterinary technologist, bringing with her an impressive 26 years of experience in the veterinary field. Her extensive background and expertise in imaging make her an invaluable asset to our practice.
Outside of her professional life, Fran enjoys spending her time with her beloved animals. She is an avid horse enthusiast, spending her days with her horses Rumour and Gunnar. Fran also has a beautiful boxer, Raven, and her charming African Grey parrot, Captain.
We are thrilled to have Fran's wealth of knowledge and her compassionate approach as part of our team, enhancing the care and support we provide to our patients and their families.
Registered Veterinary Technician

Brittany Brausse

Brittany is a committed veterinary technologist with a deep love for animals. Her versatility and ability to get things done make her a huge asset to the clinic. When she's not studying, she's competing as a passionate barrel racer. She and her husband live on a beautiful farm where they care for their beloved Boston Terriers and horses, creating a life filled with energy and devotion to animal care.

Nikki Guidi

Nikki grew up in the Okanagan where she immersed herself in the world of 3-day eventing and advanced through the upper levels of Pony Club. With a deep-rooted passion for horses, Nikki now dedicates her days to running her horse training & lesson barn alongside her husband and their beloved dogs. Whether you encounter her in the office or out in the barn, Nikki’s vibrant energy, positive attitude, and unwavering kindness are always evident. Her presence is a testament to her commitment to both the equestrian world and the people around her.

Liz Webb

Liz grew up in Terrace BC with her 3 younger brothers. She spent most of her childhood outdoors either swimming or skiing. After graduating high school she moved to Dawson Creek BC where she collected a handful of horses and a goat alongside her dogs and her cats. Liz gained lots of experience with livestock while living up north and helped manage a herd of over 300 cattle.
Now living in the Okanagan, Liz spends lots of her time riding her horses, paddle boarding in the summer and has recently started enjoying dog sports with her Australian Koolie, Spade.
Veterinary Assistant

Ashley Breiktreitz

Ashley has a diverse background in veterinary care, having grown up in the Okanagan and previously working at a referral hospital. Her experience includes working with a variety of animals, including exotics, and supporting specialists in fields like behavioral medicine, dermatology, diagnostics/imaging and emergency care. Ashley mainly worked on the surgical floor, collaborating with general practice doctors and assisting a board-certified surgeon. Currently, she is a veterinary assistant at Mills Vet, where she also takes on some veterinary technician responsibilities. Though she has considered pursuing the veterinary technician program, Ashley is enjoying her current role. Outside of work, she is passionate about the outdoors, fitness, and spends her time off with family, friends, and her partner in crime.

Jordi Miller

Jordi is a dedicated barrel racer who channels her love for equine sports into everything she does. With three years of experience at an equine veterinary office, she has developed a vast knowledge of horse health and care. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking with her German shepherd, Jackson, and her husband, Jake, enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and maintaining an active lifestyle.

Josey Nerling

Josey is a former coffee shop manager, bringing 3 years of management experience to our team. In addition to her skills in the fast paced world of coffee, she also brings a passion for leadership and customer service. Growing up, Josey was an avid hockey player. She was voted assistant captain for 3 seasons and worked to embrace team work on and off the ice. Currently, Josey has completed her Animal Welfare Certificate through Thompson River’s University and has been accepted into their Veterinary Technology Diploma program. When not working, or studying, Josey enjoys spending time with her kitten “Frankie” and her bunny “Binoo” adding a touch of fluff to daily life.

Allisha Wallis

Allisha is the Office Manager at our veterinary clinic, where she plays a crucial role in keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently. Passionate about the great outdoors, Allisha cherishes her time spent at the beach during the summer and enjoys exploring nature with her husband and daughter, Ava. With outdoor photography being one of her favorite hobbies, she loves capturing the beauty of her surroundings and brings that same attention to detail and creativity to her work at the clinic.

Joe McKinnon

Joe is the go-to person for bookkeeping and clinic maintenance at Mills Veterinary Services. With a background in counseling and mechanics, Joe brings a unique perspective to his work. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys trail running and scuba diving, and recently welcomed a new puppy named Pixel into his life. Joe's knack for organization and attention to detail ensures that everything runs smoothly at Mills Veterinary Services

Designated Office Greeters (DOGs)!

Our Mills Vet Designated Office Greeters (D.O.G.s) take their jobs very seriously when it comes to welcoming their four-legged friends into our clinic. With woofs and wags, they want to make sure that everyone feels the love. We joke that we are the only veterinary clinic that has claw marks on the outside of the door, from dogs eager to come in and enjoy their treatment!
